Statement

I am honored to be considered for the Treasurer position of CIES. With a strong commitment to advancing equitable, inclusive, and research-based practices, I hope to contribute my experience in research, teaching, and service to support the continued growth and impact of CIES. I am deeply committed to safeguarding the Society’s financial health and to supporting its mission through transparency and long-term planning. Sound financial oversight is essential to sustaining the Society’s programs, supporting its members, and ensuring its continued vitality.

My work as a transnational researcher and educator centers on language, mobility, and the educational experiences of diverse and marginalized populations. Having taught and collaborated with students and colleagues across multiple countries and institutional contexts, I bring a deep understanding of the complexities and possibilities of comparative, global, and international education. I have also served in editorial and leadership roles that have honed my ability to support collaborative initiatives, facilitate constructive dialogue, and contribute to strategic planning.

If elected, I will provide clear and responsible oversight of the Society’s financial position on behalf of the Board of Directors. Working closely with the Finance and Investment Committee and the Executive Committee, I will review the annual budget in detail and present it to the Board for approval. I will also ensure that expenditures are approved in accordance with the CIES Financial Policies and Procedures and that financial decisions reflect both strategic priorities and fiscal responsibility.

I am committed to maintaining strong systems of accountability, including the careful review of the Society’s annual audit and ongoing attention to best practices in nonprofit financial governance. Equally important to me is clear and timely communication with the Society’s membership. I will prepare and present a comprehensive annual report on the Society’s financial activity for distribution and discussion at the State of the Society meeting, ensuring that members are well informed about the Society’s financial position, priorities, and planning.

I look forward to carrying out responsibilities of this office with diligence, integrity, and respect for established policies and procedures, and to performing any additional duties as specified in the CIES Financial Policies and Procedures. I am eager to work collaboratively with the Board, committees, and staff to strengthen the Society’s financial foundation in support of the social sciences and the Society’s broader mission.
